Ambulatory Care Clinics

Dr. Szeto holds a hospital clinic every Monday and Friday from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM in Ambulatory Care Unit 1 (ACU1) at Health Sciences North. Our office will reach out to patients directly to schedule these appointments.

The clinic is situated in ACU #1, located on Level 1 of the South Tower, just one floor below the cafeteria. We kindly ask that patients arrive 15 - 20 minutes prior to their appointment to allow ample time for screening and registration.

Education

What is a Nasopharyngoscopy or “a scope"?

Dr. Szeto will perform this procedure on select patients in ACU1. During the procedure, a thin, flexible fiberoptic tube is carefully inserted through the nose and guided down the back of the throat, allowing the physician to visualize the structures within the throat, including the vocal cords, pharynx, and larynx. This enables a thorough examination of the nose, throat, and larynx for any abnormalities.

Patients typically remain seated during the procedure, and a numbing spray may be applied beforehand if necessary. The procedure only takes between 15 seconds and 1 minute to complete, with no special preparation required. Patients can resume their normal activities afterward and are able to drive immediately following the procedure. Some individuals may experience mild discomfort that can persist for the rest of the day.
