Pre- Operation
Patients will meet or speak via phone with Dr. Szeto to discuss the risks and benefits of their surgical procedure. If both parties agree to proceed, patients will provide consent either verbally or by signing a consent form. At this appointment, patients may receive a potential surgery date, or they may be placed on a waiting list and notified later. Please be aware that non-urgent surgeries may be postponed in favor of urgent oncology cases. We will communicate with patients as soon as possible to inform them of any changes to their surgery date.

Depending on the patient’s health status and the type of surgery, a pre-operative consultation with Anesthesia and/or Internal Medicine at Health Sciences North may be necessary. Dr. Szeto will inform Health Sciences North if such a consultation is required. The exact timing of procedures is determined by the hospital. Patients will receive advance communication from the hospital detailing how to prepare for surgery and when to arrive.
